On 2 January 2026, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) and the Israel Patent Office (ILPO) launched a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) – MOTTAINAI program, enabling applicants to accelerate patent examination in one jurisdiction by relying on positive examination results from the other.
 
Under PPH MOTTAINAI, either office may serve as the Office of First Examination. Once claims are found allowable in Taiwan or Israel, applicants can request fast-track examination of corresponding claims in the partner office, reducing duplication and shortening time to grant.
The Taiwan–Israel PPH gives innovators a practical, faster route to secure patent protection in both jurisdictions, supporting international commercialization and stronger IP strategies.
